The Source is a prominent project development in the south of Munich. Henn Architects have been commissioned to revitalize the former Siemens high-rise (once Munich's tallest building) and to supplement it with two new buildings exceeding the highest standards regarding technology, sustainability, and well-being.
The brand narrative “Home of Visionaries” finds its cornerstone in the buildings unique heritage and historical value. Firstly, as the inaugural high-rise of Munich, constructed from 1961-63, this structure is a testament to the modernist Bauhaus architecture inspired by the vision of Mies van der Rohe, thanks to the pioneering design by Ingo Mauerer. Secondly, this development is steeped in the zeitgeist of a pivotal era; it stands at the heart of the so-called Isar Valley, where it served as the Siemens Nixdorf Headquarters. This company played a critical role in the early stages of global digitization, long before the term Silicon Valley entered the common lexicon.
The Source’s design language is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of invention, drawing its aesthetic essence from the Z1, the groundbreaking mechanical computer created by Konrad Zuse. This homage is evident in the interplay of mechanical 0 and 1 switches in the design patterns, encapsulating a blend of technical precision and modernist artistry.
The brand's logo crystallizes the concept of the Source, with the binary 0-1 theme at its core. This elemental representation is not just a nod to the digital genesis of modern computing, but also a statement of simplicity and clarity that transcends time. The logo exhibits a timeless character, merging modern-retro aesthetics to create a distinctive and enduring visual identity that perfectly encapsulates the essence of The Source as the birthplace of visionary thought and creativity.
